Benjamin Lievense, D.D.S.

Dr. Lievense pursued his education and expansive training at these prestigious institutions:

• Dr. Lievense completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor's in science degree in biology from the University of Detroit Mercy. His focus from day one was to make it to dental school. He was able to participate in programs that provided him with early experience through UDM's pre-dental program.
• Dr. Lievense obtained his DDS degree from the number one ranked dental school in the USA at them time of his graduation, University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He established a well-built foundation of clinical and academic knowledge during his time studying. He also was exposed to many of the newer technological advancements that dentistry has to offer including digital scanning, CBCT 3D imaging, 3D printing, digital smile design, and more. He participated in cancer and mental health research while balancing his many other studies. He also participated in multiple outreach rotations that allowed him to help underserved communities and garner more real world experience before graduation.
• Dr. Lievense is constantly looking for continuing education opportunities to make sure he is up to date on all the latest and greatest that dentistry has to offer. This allows him to provide the highest standard of care in every aspect of dentistry! One of the main ways he stays up to date is by participating in local study clubs through Spear Education. Dr. Lievense regularly meets with colleagues from the area to discuss complex cases, and uses critical thinking to come up with creative ways to address such cases alongside his peers. 
• Dr. Lievense also searches for continuing education opportunities outside of the local community. He has traveled to Provo, Utah to take courses from the prestigious Gordon J. Christensen at his research institute. He has taken courses in placing implants as well as courses on how to address potential complications with dental implants. 
• Dr. Lievense has not stopped his search for further knowledge here. Check back to see what cool new things Dr. Lievense has learned over the next few years that he plans to bring back to our office!

Dr. Lievense knows that many patients prefer to stay in one place for their dentistry. He is constantly expanding his repertoire to provide more and more expanded services. Dr. Lievense is currently proficient in restorative dentistry including fillings, crowns, bridge, and veneers. He is also highly capable of completing root canals, tooth extractions, and selective gum surgeries. Dr. Lievense is also trained in the placement and restoration of dental implants, and plans to incorporate this service into the practice by the end of 2024! As much as Dr. Lievense is comfortable providing many different types of dental procedures, every person, case, and tooth are different.
